A site called Check Your HUD has put together a family tree of game developers. What I like most about this is the attempt to show the relationships between the companies including: mergers, splits, name changes, and companies formed by former members of another company.
If you are familiar with the Silicon Valley Genealogy Chart, this is along the same lines.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t go ahead and link to Mark Granovetter and the Silicon Valley Network Analysis Project. If you haven’t heard of Dr. Granovetter’s work, you may find it interesting.
